Early Numbers for Diane Sawyer’s ‘World News’ Debut

According to Fast Affiliate Nielsen data, ABC averaged 8.934 million Total Viewers between 6:30-7pm last night. NBC averaged 9.305 million and CBS averaged 5.946 million.

This data reflects viewing from 6:30-7:00pm. In some markets, the evening newscasts do not air at 6:30pmET/PT (5:30pmCT/MT). The national numbers released next Tuesday will be a true reflection of Sawyer’s first broadcast.

The “World News” season-to-date average is 8m Total Viewers, so if these numbers hold, Diane Sawyer‘s debut broadcast will see about a 900K viewer increase, but still second to “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.”
