Erica Hill Joins Weekday CBS ‘Early Show’
First on TVNewser: Erica Hill will join the CBS “Early Show” as the program’s news anchor, the network will announce. She will start on Monday.
Hill takes the place of Russ Mitchell who leaves the program this week for new duties as a correspondent for CBS News.
As we reported first on Friday evening, Hill announced she was leaving CNN, where she had been since 2003, and her role on “Anderson Cooper 360″ for new opportunities at CBS News. An announcement about her expanded role at CBS had been expected this week.
Hill has been an anchor for the Saturday edition of “The Early Show” since 2008. She will continue to co-host that program with Chris Wragge and will also contribute to other CBS News broadcasts. The newsreader switch is the first major change since new EP David Friedman joined the program.
