Evening News Ratings: NBC Tops ‘World News’ in Sawyer’s First Week
Diane Sawyer made her ABC “World News” debut last Monday, and 8.97 million total viewers (2.41 million in the A25-54 demo) tuned in to watch that night. Charlie Gibson‘s final broadcast the previous week drew 8.96 million.
NBC’s “Nightly News” was again the top evening news program for the week, with Brian Williams drawing 800,000 more total viewers than Sawyer and “World News.”
Both NBC and ABC were up week-to-week, but the ratings are based on three-day (Mon-Wed) average for the holiday week.
