Evening News Ratings: Week of Oct. 16

ABC’s World News with Charles Gibson outperformed NBC Nightly News in the 25-54 demo last week, and came within 200,000 viewers of topping NBC in total viewers.

Last week’s World News included “Diane Sawyer’s exclusive reporting from inside North Korea; a division-wide series on healthcare in America, ‘Prescription for Change: Fixing American Healthcare;’ and George Stephanopoulos’ wide-ranging interview with President George W. Bush,” ABC notes.

Meanwhile, the CBS Evening News has gained viewers for the second straight week, the network notes. For the week of Oct. 16:

Total viewers: NBC: 8,650,000 / ABC: 8,450,000 / CBS: 7,560,000

Households: NBC: 6.0/12 / ABC: 5.9/12 / CBS: 5.2/10

25-54 viewers: NBC: 2,680,000 / ABC: 2,830,000 / CBS: 2,510,000

25-54 demo: NBC: 2.2/9 / ABC: 2.3/9 / CBS: 2.1/8

18-49 demo: NBC: 1.6/7 / ABC: 1.7/7 / CBS: 1.5/6
