Evening News Ratings: Week of September 6

ENLogos_4.13.jpg For the week of September 6, “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” was the only evening newscast to be up from the week prior, though “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was still the top program in both total viewers and the demo.

It was an unusual week, with Monday’s Labor Day holiday not included in the averages. In addition, NBC’s numbers are based on three days only (Tues., Wed. and Fri.), due to last Thursday’s NFL season kickoff game. Likewise, US Open tennis coverage caused Friday’s “CBS Evening News” to start late.

“NBC Nightly News” and “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric” were both down slightly in total viewers and the demo.

“Nightly” drew just under 7.8 million total viewers and 2.3 million viewers in the 25-54 demo, both down from last week. “CBS Evening News” drew just under 4.5 million total viewers and 1.53 million demo viewers, also down slightly from last week.

“World News” drew 7.11 million total viewers and 1.89 million in the demo, improving upon last week’s performance, albeit only slightly.

Numbers for the week of September 6, 2010.

  NBC ABC CBS
