FBN’s Charlie Gasparino Bashes ‘Brand X’ Business Network

Yesterday Fox Business Network’s Charlie Gasparano appeared on “Closing Bell” with Liz Claman to show video of his attempted ambush interview with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner. Attempted, because Geithner didn’t answer any questions, and just walked to his car. This upset Charlie, who used the opportunity to bash the “Brand X” business network.

Gasparino: “Unlike ‘Brand X,’ they will let him get away with his spin.”

Claman: “You mean CNBC? Why do you keep calling them brand X?”

Gasparino: “Because I don’t dignify them with the real station name, because they would allow him to get away with the absurdity that when you raise taxes on the rich that somehow that is good. I wouldn’t, and that is why he ran away from me.

Of course, Gasparino bashing his previous employer is not exactly new. What makes the clip that mush better, however, is that when TVNewser viewed it, the ad that accompanied it was for GE Capital:

Both GE Capital and CNBC are owned by General Electric, at least until Comcast closes its deal to acquire NBC Universal. So CNBC’s parent company bought ad space on a network that competes with CNBC, and the ad appeared on a clip that was bashing CNBC.
