Fox News Writer Deployed to Afghanistan: ‘I Consider this the Calling of my Generation’

TVNewser has learned that Fox News staffer Nick Kalman, who’s a writer on “Fox & Friends,” is being deployed to Afghanistan with the U.S. Navy. He sent this note to his colleagues on Friday, which was his last day at the network, for now:

Forgive the mass mail, but I’ve come to know a lot of people here over the years and didn’t want to leave people out.

Today is my last day at Fox. I have been mobilized and will be deploying to Afghanistan with the United States Navy (yes, I know there aren’t any ships there). I consider this the calling of my generation and I am honored to be going. To all those I have worked with, to all those who have taken me under their wing, and to all those I have been fortunate enough to become friends with: thank you from the bottom of my heart. Fox has been home for a long time and I will miss it here, but I am eager to start the work ahead.

One last shout out to my Fox News Championship Basketball teammates. You guys are some of the best friends I have. Save my spot, I’ll be back in a year.

Nick
