Right now Hurricane Sandy is a category two storm bearing down on the Bahamas and will soon head north along the Eastern seaboard. Some models have Sandy heading to New York, New Jersey and New England where, according to the National Weather Service Sandy could “become incorporated into a hybrid vortex” by Tuesday, the day before Halloween. In other words, a mess of a storm.

As we told you yesterday, two of the three morning shows are going all-out on Wednesday with outdoor Halloween themed shows — “Today” at Rockefeller Plaza and “GMA” in Times Square. Even if the storm passes, it will likely be a major news story that morning affecting tens of millions of people in the Northeast. I mean, do you really want to be dressed like Snooki, talking about how thousands are without power?

The NWS, for now, is keeping a sense of humor about it, going so far as to assume the massive storm “invites a ghoulish nickname for the cyclone along the lines of ‘Frankenstorm.”

Thanks, NWS, you’ve just outdone every meteorologist and news producer. Bravo.
