Are there any boundaries between journalism and entertainment for Anderson Cooper? He’s hosting an HBO comedy special on April 1 at 9pm.

Jerry Seinfeld is receiving The Comedy Festival’s inaugural Comedian Award, and Cooper is the master of ceremonies.

It’s not going to boost his newsman credentials. An industry observer quips: At some point you give into media whoredom and worry more about being seen on every billboard, every cross-town bus and every next big thing event in NY and LA. It’s at that juncture that people begin talking about you for the wrong reasons and you become a journalistic fraud.
