Gibson to WNT: Good Morning, Diane

“By naming Gibson to the anchor desk, ABC gains much-needed stability for its evening newscast but is forsaking a key player in its morning team,” Broadcasting & Cable says.

On CNN this morning, Howard Kurtz told Daryn Kagan that his sources say that ABC News won’t immediately replace Gibson. Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts will co-host the show.

Some published reports said Sawyer wanted to anchor WNT. Her quote in this morning’s press release was terse: “I know Elizabeth will bring great reporting to primetime as she always has, and Charlie will be wonderful on ‘World News Tonight.’ I will be watching him every night.”
