Good #’s For WN’s Single-Sponsor Shows

Monday night marked the final installment of World News’ four-week experiment with a single-sponsor broadcast.

The newscast, with limited commercial interruption, featured Bill Weir‘s “Key to the World” report on the booming city of Dubai and a five-minute Bob Woodruff report on a soldier who committed suicide at Walter Reed.

Based on Nielsen fast nationals, World News was #1, averaging 8,630,000 viewers, compared to 8,050,000 for NBC and 6,940,000 for CBS.

For the last four Mondays, World News has averaged 9,035,000, compared to 8,657,000 for NBC and 7,075,000 for CBS…
