Gupta Gets “Fit” in Louisiana

CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and other CNN employees were at Pontiff Park in Metairie, Louisiana this weekend, helping build a new playground.

Gupta was at the park to kick off his 2008 Fit Nation initiative, aimed at stopping obesity and emphasizing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. CNN partnered with Cox Communications New Orleans and KaBOOM!, an non-profit organization helping communities build playgrounds, in the effort.

The playground was build, start to finish, with the help of 250 volunteers in approximately six hours.

Gupta also taped his program, “House Call,” from the site, interviewing local community leaders who came out to help.
