Is Howard Dean Bitter About Not Being Obama’s Chief of Staff?
TVNewser has the transcript from tomorrow night’s “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News”. DNC Chairman Howard Dean was Hughley’s guest and they got to talking about Dean’s successful 50 state strategy, and how one person was not so keen on the idea.
Dean: You gotta go to everyone to ask for the vote and if you don’t do it you’re not likely to win so we just went everywhere… People use to make fun of the fact that we went to Alaska to get them organized but now we have a United States Senator from Alaska… So I think it worked out alright.
Hughley: You had a lot of detractors… many people thought that it wouldn’t be successful, including Rahm Emanuel… How do you feel? Do you feel vindicated?
Dean: No… Rahm ended up as chief of staff to Barack Obama so I don’t feel too vindicated.
Hughley: You were right… but it was amazing…
Dean: Ah, D.L., I might have been right but I’d rather be chief of staff…(laughter)
> Update: DNC national press secretary Stacie Paxton responds to TVNewser, “Dean was clearly joking. As he’s said previously, Dean has a lot of respect for Rahm Emanuel and thinks he’ll do a great job as Chief of Staff.”
The segment airs on “Hughley” tomorrow night at 10pmET on CNN.
