Jeff Zucker at his Roast: ‘I haven’t felt so much love since I sat down with Steve Burke’

Outgoing NBC CEO Jeff Zucker was roasted at the Center for Communication’s annual luncheon today by tvnewsers Katie Couric and Brian Williams. Alec Baldwin, Mark Feuerstein and Lorne Michaels also told jokes about the CEO leaving NBC and his involvement in the whole Conan-Leno incident.

Couric joked that Zucker was at least “walking away with Conan O’Brien money.” While she talked about Rick Sanchez being fired from CNN, Couric pointed out that Zucker is proof that Jewish people control the media, but aren’t always that good at it.

Given that the 30th annual luncheon “has a certain kiss of death” about it for tvnewsers, Williams suggested that Couric and Diane Sawyer should be nominated for the 2011 honor.

“I can’t believe that Katie Couric and Brian Williams are the funniest people at this lunch,” Baldwin said in an effort to make fun of the other roasters.

“I haven’t felt so much love since I sat down with [Comcast COO] Steve Burke a few weeks ago,” Zucker joked.
