Jonathan Wald on Piers Morgan: “He’s great. He’s terrific.” But can they beat Fox News?
Jonathan Wald, who was named EP of “Piers Morgan Tonight” today, says that he’s ready to beat Fox News: “The strategy for beating the competition is to make great television every night, and I’m fortunate to have done that at the ‘Today’ show, at ‘Nightly’ and at CNBC.”
“It’ll be different because Piers is different,” Wald told Forbes.com about Morgan and the TV legend he’ll be succeeding, Larry King, “He brings to it a strong personality. He’s an opinionated interviewer who’s not partisan. He asks the questions you want to hear answered.”
As for beating FNC in its 9pmET time slot… “In the end, America knows who it wants to hear from,” Wald said to Forbes.com. “In a fractured media environment, if there’s one show that can take you to the heart of what happened, that’s powerful.”
