Lauer Live in Statue of Liberty For Announcement

today_5-8.jpgSecretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced this morning that the crown of the Statue of Liberty would re-open to the public on July 4. It has been closed since September 11, 2001.

The setting for the announcement — inside the crown itself, live on the Today show in an interview with Matt Lauer.

All the Today anchors made it to the island, and the top of the Statue of Liberty, as well.
