Lyne Pitts Becomes NBC News VP

lyneapril26.jpgWeekend Today EP Lyne Pitts is now a vice president of NBC News, Steve Capus announced today. Her appointment is effective immediately.

“Pitts’ responsibilities include oversight of the News division’s strategic partnerships and overall production management,” the press release says. “Pitts is also tasked with positioning NBC News’ production assets for the future — everything from integrated desktop editing to identifying and streamlining facilities opportunities both domestically and internationally. She also serves as the division’s point person on diversity issues.”

Pitts has been in charge of Weekend Today since Feb. 2006. She joined NBC from CBS, where she had mostly recently been the senior producer of the CBS Evening News. Her husband is Byron Pitts
