Dowd’s deal with ABC will keep him at the network “through the 2012 elections and beyond.”
Dowd is a former political strategist, most recently working on the reelection campaign of former President George W. Bush.

Subject: Matthew Dowd
I’m delighted to report that Matthew Dowd – one of the most insightful independent political minds in the country – will serve as an ABC News analyst through the 2012 elections and beyond.
In the past few years, Matthew has worked with us as a political analyst. Going forward, he will take on an expanded role, contributing more frequently across ABC News broadcasts, election specials and online.
As you know, Matthew is a New York Times best-selling author, widely-read blogger for The Huffington Post, columnist for The National Journal, and a highly regarded political strategist. His insider knowledge, incisive point of view and considerable talents add even greater depth to our coverage, and I’m thrilled that our viewers will see and hear even more of his perspectives.
As we focus on our goal of reaching more viewers and offering a deeper understanding of the world, Matthew’s keen intelligence and strategic abilities will be powerful assets.
Please join me in a round of applause for Matthew on his important and expanded role.
