Matthew Dowd Takes on Expanded Political Role at ABC News

Former political strategist Matthew Dowd is taking on an expanded role at ABC News, according to a memo sent to staff by ABC News president Ben Sherwood.

“In the past few years, Matthew has worked with us as a political analyst,” Sherwood wrote. “Going forward, he will take on an expanded role, contributing more frequently across ABC News broadcasts, election specials and online.”

Dowd’s deal with ABC will keep him at the network “through the 2012 elections and beyond.”

Dowd is a former political strategist, most recently working on the reelection campaign of former President George W. Bush.
