Matthew Dowd to Join ABC News

dowd_12-7.jpgHoward Kurtz of the Washington Post reports that ABC News will announce the hiring of Matthew Dowd today, a strategist to President George W. Bush‘s campaigns in 2000 and 2004. Dowd was last employed at the Republican National Committee.

Kurtz writes that Dowd will be an on-air contributor and blogger for ABC News. Dowd recently broke ties with the President over the war in Iraq. “My own personal opinion is we ought to bring the troops home as quickly as possible,” Dowd says in the Kurtz article.

He will join former Al Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile on the ABC News team.
