Matthews Sidelined Until Next Week; Was In Hospital For Complications From Diabetes

Chris Matthews won’t be back on the air until next week, after he was hospitalized due to complications from diabetes.

Matthews hasn’t hosted Hardball since Nov. 27. He was missing from a panel discussion last Thursday (Andrea Mitchell subbed) and he was MIA for the show’s college tour yesterday (Campbell Brown filled in). Mike Barnicle filled in for Matthews today.

A spokesperson says Matthews checked out of the hospital on Friday, and MSNBC expects him back on Hardball next week.
