May #’s: Sit. Room Narrows Gap With FNC

The Situation Room is closing the gap between CNN and FNC in the 25-54 demographic, according to data provided by CNN. At 4pm, The Situation Room averaged 136,000 demo viewers, up from 88,000 in the time period in May 2005. FNC’s Your World averaged 177,000 demo viewers, down from 213,000 a year ago. (That’s a gap of 30 percent, compared to 142 percent last year.)

At 5pm, the gap is even tighter: Wolf Blitzer averaged 161,000 demo viewers while John Gibson averaged 167,000, compared to 102,000 for CNN and 203,000 for FNC in May 2005.

At 7pm, the gap went from 167 percent to 66 percent, with Blitzer averaging 175,000 demo viewers in May and Shep Smith averaging 291,000.
