Morning Show Ratings: Week of July 9

As expected, final Nielsen ratings for the week of July 9 show ABC’s “Good Morning America” won in Total Viewers while NBC’s “Today” holds on to win among A25-54 viewers, keeping that 17-year streak alive for at least another week.

“GMA” topped “Today” by +342,000 viewers, its biggest win since the week of May 5, 1995. This is “GMA’s” first back-to-back weekly win since November/December 1995.

“Today’s” demo win was by just +15,000 viewers. This is the closest “GMA” has gotten since the week of Sept. 11, 1995. Next week, “Today” begins broadcasting from London ahead of the Summer Olympics. When the younger demo is broken out, “GMA” wins in Women 25-54, while “Today” takes Men 25-54. GMA’s lead with women stood at +102,000 viewers last week.

And while the race continues to heat up between the top two shows, only the #3 rated morning show, “CBS This Morning” actually grew its viewership compared to the same week last year.

“CBS This Morning” is up +4% in Total Viewers and up +5% in the younger demo. “Today” is down double digits: -16% in Total Viewers / -26% in younger viewers. And even “GMA” is down a slight -1% in Total Viewers / -3% A25-54 viewers.

  • Total Viewers: NBC: 4.213M / ABC: 4.555M / CBS: 2.235M
  • A25-54 viewers: NBC: 1.711M / ABC: 1.696M / CBS: 874K
