NAB/RTNDA: The Sign of Things to Come?

“As many industry veterans wring their hands over the growing popularity of ‘one-man bands,’ there was every indication today that the phenomenon is here to stay.

At a breakout seession titled ‘The Art of the One Man Band,’ even the panelists appeared to acknowledge that — at times — simultaneously producing, reporting and shooting your own story can be pretty inartful.

But when moderator Mark Kraham, the news director at WHAG-TV in Hagerstown, MD asked how many audience members expect to be one-man-banding in their first local TV news job, at least 80% of the fresh-faced youngsters seated before him raised their hands.”
