NBC Compares ‘World News’ To New Coke

So World News Tonight is now World News. Could CBS and NBC “take ‘Evening’ and ‘Nightly’ out of their respective titles?” Michele Greppi asked, and “the response was, in a word, ‘no.’”

Said Sean McManus: “CBS Evening News’ is one of the great brands in the entire industry, and we have no plans to change it.”

And said an NBC spokesperson: “Alert the media — they’ve come up with the secret formula. It’s called New Coke.”
