NBC Late-Night News Had Little Impact on Last Week’s Ratings
News broke late last week of potential shakeups in NBC’s late-night lineup, nabbing media headlines. But any influx of casual viewers appears to have had little effect on the ratings race as the story broke.
On Thursday and Friday when news was first breaking, ABC’s news program, “Nightline,” had the most total viewers and A25-54 demo viewers, with Conan O’Brien coming in third in total viewers and second in the demo.
For the week, CBS’ “Late Show” was the number one late-night program in total viewers, “Nightline” was first in the A25-54 demo, and NBC’s “Tonight” show was first in A18-49.
Things really heated up this week, and we’ll have those final late-night ratings next Thursday.
The numbers for the week of Jan. 4:
| Show | Network | A25-54 | A18-49 | Total Viewers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Late Show | CBS | 1.53M | 1.23M | 4.02M |
| Nightline | ABC | 1.55M | 1.33M | 3.73M |
| Tonight Show | NBC | 1.46M | 1.35M | 2.49M |
