Changes at NBC's D.C. Bureau

FishbowlDC has the memo from NBC D.C. bureau chief Mark Whitaker announcing several promotions.

Antoine Sanfuentes was promoted to Deputy Bureau Chief from his "decade as Senior White House producer." He replaces Wendy Wilkinson, who is leaving the network next month.

Also, Albert Oetgen's role has been expanded to managing editor as well as senior producer for Nightly News and Today show. And Meaghan Rady returns to the east coast as a coordinating producer for those shows. Rady was Tom Brokaw's producer during his final years at Nightly News, later moving to NBC's LA bureau.

I am pleased to announce the following changes in the management of the Washington bureau, effective March 16: ANTOINE SANFUENTES becomes Deputy Bureau Chief. From his early days as a Desk Assistant to his decade as Senior White House producer, Antoine has been a rock for every correspondent, producer, editor and crew person he's worked with him. With his unique combination of organization and imagination, compassion and toughness, he is the perfect person to help me manage our day-to-day business and drive technological and cultural change in the bureau. As most of you know by now, ALBERT OETGEN has assumed an expanded senioring role for both Nightly News and The Today Show, under the title of Managing Editor. I am happy to report that MEAGHAN RADY will join him as Coordinating Producer for those two shows. A former producer for Tom Brokaw and now a Today Show stalwart in LA, Meaghan possesses a remarkable mixture of energy, poise and smarts, and will be a terrific addition to the bureau. KEN STRICKLAND and JAY BLACKMAN become Supervising Producers. In addition to continuing as our chief Capitol Hill producer, Ken will take on an expanded role as editorial point person for all our beat producers, providing daily guidance and reality checks to producers here and in New York. He also will take over direction of our Desk Assistant program, working with KIM SNEED in identifying and training new recruits. Jay will become our go-to producer for Specials and long-range NBC and Pool projects, while also continuing to take on occasional field-producing assignments with Tom Costello and other correspondents. TONY CAPRA becomes Manager of the News Desk. Tony has been running the desk on an interim basis that has now stretched several years, and richly deserves this official designation. Working with Antoine and me, he will play a pivotal role in deploying our reporting and production resources and managing our pool obligations. SCOTT FOSTER becomes a White House producer. Another proud former DA, Scott has done a stellar job on the Pentagon beat and backstopping Nightly News. Working with Alicia Jennings and Athena Jones, he will join a strong new White House team supporting Chuck, Savannah and John. . Please join me in congratulating this exceptionally talented new team and in wishing them well in their new assignments.
