NBC’s Ann Curry In Africa To Report On Violence Along Chad-Sudan Border

Next week on NBC News, Ann Curry will report from Chad on fresh outbreaks of violence along the Chad-Sudanese border.

This afternoon’s press release admits the situation has been largely ignored by this country’s media organizations, saying: “With these reports, NBC News breaks new ground with coverage on an issue that has received little attention in the mainstream American press.”

In a rare interview, Chadian President Idriss Deby says: “It would be immoral, not only for the U.S., but for the entire international community to observe what is happening in Darfur and to let it happen.”

Curry’s reports will air on Today, Nightly News, MSNBC, and MSNBC.com. I hope NBC produces an hour-long special based around her reports. At the very least, air it on MSNBC…
