New York Knicks-Boston Celtics Stunner Delivers MSG Its Best Ratings Since 2001

Last night’s NBA matchup between the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics was one of the best games to watch all season. If you missed it, it was capped with a stunning last second shot by Paul Pierce to give the Celtics the lead with 4/10 of a second remaining, followed by three-pointer that would have given the Knicks the win, had it not been beaten by the buzzer by a fraction of a second.

While the game may have ended with a Knicks loss, it was still sweet for MSG, which saw its highest ratings for a Knicks game since October 31, 2001–When Michael Jordan made his return to the NBA with the Washington Wizards.

The game on MSG averaged a 3.61 household rating, or 271,303 homes. Combined with ESPN’s telecast, it averaged a 6.27 household rating in the New York market.

Through 25 games, Knicks games on MSG are averaging a 1.27 HH rating, up 17% from last season.

Tomorrow is set to be another strong matchup, with the Knicks facing off against LeBron James and the Miami Heat.
