‘Nightly News’ Starts Strong in London

Just as NBC continues to put up Olympic-sized ratings for the Summer games, the first weekend of “Nightly News” broadcasts from London also saw big numbers.

Brian Williams anchored both Saturday and Sunday “Nightly News” from the Tower of London. The broadcasts were sandwiched between daytime and primetime Olympics programming each day.

Saturday “Nightly” had its best total viewer delivery since February 13, 2010 (Vancouver Olympics) and best A25-54 rating since August 16, 2008 (Beijing Olympics).

Sunday “Nightly” had its best total viewer delivery since February 12, 2006 (Torino Olympics), and best A25-54 rating since February 12, 2006 (Torino Olympics).

Total Viewers:

  • Saturday, July 28: 11,682,000 (vs. 11,144,000 for first Saturday in Beijing)
  • Sunday, July 29: 14,469,000 (vs. 14,371,000 for first Sunday in Beijing)
