NK Missile Launch: MSNBC “A Nonstarter”

When I returned home from fireworks last night to read e-mails about cable news coverage of the North Korea missile launch, I had messages like these in my Inbox: “MSNBC is finished.” “The entire team of executives should be fired immediately.” “MSNBC is not a news network.”

As CNN and FNC went wall-to-wall with coverage, MSNBC stuck with taped episodes of MSNBC Investigates. “I think you could hear crickets chirp in Secaucus,” this MSN poster said. Here are some more of the e-mails:

“MSNBC, virtually a nonstarter — embarrassing that they had to rely on an Ann Curry-led ‘Special Report’ while showing Abrams’ much-vaunted documentaries.”

“We can officially write off MSNBC as a news network. They are doing a special on the BTK killer while CNN and FOX report on a missile launch in North Korea.”

“While the other networks had wall to wall coverage, MSNBC had a one minute update with no correspondents. They had old file video and a map… it does not look like a network that wants to be known as a place for breaking news.”
