No Joke. Mislabeling Parties, and Renaming Politicians

It is one thing to mislabel a republican a democrat on cable news, as Rachel Maddow did Friday night on her show, but quite another to change the name of an elected official from “Joe” to “Joke” as Fox News did this morning.

First Maddow. On Friday she was talking about Republican congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers who said the use of nazi symbols at town hall meetings was inappropriate. But a lower-third identified her as a democrat. Maddow’s whole point, which she verbally communicated, was that a high-ranking member of the GOP was taking a stand on some of the imagery at the town halls.

Now to Fox News. First spotted by MediaMatters, the ticker during Fox & Friends re-named Pennsylvania democratic congressman Joe Sestak, “Joke” Sestak.
