NYC Crash: FNC Uses Cell Phone Video

wilderoct11.jpgFox News Channel experimented with live cell phone video during coverage of the NYC aircraft crash this afternoon. The video was essentially a series of blurry still pictures. In a city with scores of skycams and helicams, the video didn’t add much to the coverage, but the technology is definitely promising.

“We have streaming video coming into us by cell phone,” Shep Smith said at 3:08pm. “These are live pictures with new Fox News technology which allows our photographers and other personnel to stream live from their own cell phone. It is breaking up as you might imagine. There is an extreme amount of cell phone traffic right now.”
