Paris Isn’t Free: “If We’re Going To Spend All Day On This, I’m Going To Have Some Fun,” Shep Smith Says

Shep Smith is really enjoying this afternoon’s news of Paris Hilton‘s new jail sentence.

He dramatically read the highlights (“‘It’s not right,’ she shouted. The weeping Hilton.”) and laughed out loud.

“If you had written this for a 3 p.m. in the east, 12 p.m. in the west soap opera, they would have tossed it out and told you to write something new. This is over the top,” he said.

“It was like a bad telenovela,” analyst Jim Hammer, who was in the courtroom, said.

A few minutes later, Hammer told Smith that “you’re enjoying this a bit too much.”

Shep replied: “If we’re going to spend all day on this, I’m going to have some fun with it.”
