The press release is after the jump...

Katie Couric will Anchor the CBS EVENING NEWS, Special Reports
And a Two-Hour Primetime Special on Tuesday, Feb. 5

CBSNews.com and CBS Radio News to Provide Continuous In-Depth Coverage

CBS News will provide aggressive and comprehensive coverage of the critical Super Tuesday primaries and caucuses being held in 24 states and one territory next Tuesday (5) on THE EARLY SHOW and the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC, as well as in a two-hour primetime special and in special reports throughout the evening anchored by Couric. CBSNews.com and CBS Radio News will also provide wall-to-wall continuous coverage of the day’s news and results.

On Feb. 5, 22 states and American Samoa will hold Democratic contests in which 41% of all delegates will be awarded. Also that night, 21 states will hold Republican contests with approximately 43% of delegates being awarded. When the final tallies are in on Super Tuesday, nearly half of the delegates to both parties will have been chosen and the country might well have an indication of who the eventual nominee of each party will be. (For a complete list of states holding events, go to CBSNews.com.)

In addition to updates and special reports beginning at 8:00 PM, ET, Couric will anchor a two-hour Campaign ’08 Super Tuesday primetime special (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) from CBS News headquarters in New York on the CBS Television Network. She will be joined by Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer and Senior Political Correspondent Jeff Greenfield, who will provide analysis of the day’s and evening’s events. The special also will include reports from CBS News correspondents covering the major candidates and events in key states. 60 MINUTES Correspondent Scott Pelley will be on hand with Couric to provide analysis of the state-by-state votes, while CBS News Correspondent Anthony Mason will offer analysis of exit poll trends across all primary states.

Couric will anchor live updates of the CBS EVENING NEWS and the primetime special for the West Coast.

Anchors Harry Smith, Julie Chen and Maggie Rodriguez will offer complete coverage on THE EARLY SHOW (7:00-9:00 AM, ET/PT) on Tuesday (5) and in-depth analysis, with CBS News experts, of the results on Wednesday (6).

CBS Radio News, for the first time, will offer its affiliates continuous coverage of the latest news and results on Super Tuesday, beginning at 8:00 PM, ET, through midnight, ET. CBS National News Correspondent Dan Raviv will anchor the program, which will be simulcast by CBSNews.com, from campaign headquarters in New York. He will be joined by reporters at all the major candidates’ headquarters, as well as polling and political experts throughout the country. CBS Radio News will also supply short-form special reports four times each hour and unanchored feeds of the candidates’ concession and victory speeches.

CBSNews.com will provide live primary results from every county of every state once a minute. Readers will be able to watch delegate counts rise as they see projections being made in real time by the CBS News Decision Desk. CBSNews.com will simulcast Couric's live television coverage and CBS Radio Network's live continuous coverage and will provide on-demand video clips from all the candidates' rallies. Partnered with washingtonpost.com and The Politico, CBSNews.com will have the most comprehensive analysis of the issues that resonated with voters.

Just two days before Super Tuesday, Bob Schieffer will anchor FACE THE NATION from New York and the CBS News Super Tuesday set on Sunday, Feb. 3 (10:30-11:00 AM, ET).
