POLL: Will You Watch Diane Sawyer’s ‘World News’ Debut?

On the day Diane Sawyer debuts on “World News,” The Boston Herald’s Mark Perigard asks, “Do viewers care about network news these days?”

[T]he Wellesley College graduate and veteran broadcaster (who turns 64 tomorrow) leaves a comfortable job and crew and shoulders chief responsibility for a news show at a time when the 24-hour cable news channels are gobbling up more viewers.

Can Sawyer do the job? Please. It’s essentially reading headlines and chatting up newsmakers. No one doubts her ability. Bigger question: Is there anyone left who will watch?
