President Obama, All Three Evening News Anchors Among The Guests Wishing Larry King Farewell

As promised, CNN delivered a star-studded goodbye for Larry King, who signed off for the last time on his daiy interview program this evening.

As we reported, comedian Bill Maher and “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest ran the proceedings, which also included a surprise serenade (via satellite) from Tony Bennett.

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger kicked off the proceedings, announcing that today was “Larry King Day” in California:

President Barack Obama appeared in a taped message, while former President Bill Clinton spoke to King live via satellite.


A number of TV news anchors gathered in CNN’s New York studios to praise King, including Brian Williams, Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric and Suze Orman. Dr. Phil McGraw, Regis Philbin and Donald Trump also made appearances.

“Saturday Night Live’”s Fred Armisen also appeared via satellite dressed as King, interviewing the host in character:

At the end of the show, King’s wife and sons joined him on the set, with youngest son Cannon busting out an impressive impression of his dad:

Finally, at the end of the program, King gave a heartfelt goodbye, or rather a “so long:”
