Update: 12:35pm: “I wouldn’t say that Ailes is ‘on a tear,’” an e-mailer says. “He simply wants to ‘up the standards’ as he has said in terms of quality of programming. It’s cyclical in terms of demands. When things start to slip, Ailes gets aggressive. Regarding the old coming back to help the new, some people may be coming back ‘downstairs’ from the executive offices to guide things back to where they were.”
