Rick Sanchez Watches His Car Chases on Fox News

This morning there was a car chase in Miami. Understandably, Miami’s own Rick Sanchez was watching with bated breath.

The CNN anchor tweeted this message to his followers this afternoon, along with a video clip:

“Rick Sanchez is laser-focused on the very serious business of CNN news stor…OH! CAR CHASE!! YEAHHHH!”

Did you notice what network Sanchez and the CNN staff were watching the car chase was on? That’s right, it was Fox News Channel.

Indeed, a TV Eyes search shows that FNC was the only network to carry the chase live, with MSNBC cutting in with a brief report right after it ended (with a tasing, no less). CNN did not cover the chase, though based on Sanchez’s reaction, it is a safe bet that the ending will make an appearance during “Rick’s List” this afternoon.

What do you think, are car chases serious news stories worth covering for cable news networks? Or are they filler?
