The broadcast networks did not cover Hurricane Katrina adaquately. It seems ABC is trying to avoid that situation this time:

Charlie Gibson is anchoring WNT from Houston tonight, 20/20 and Nightline are devoted to the storm, and Good Morning America Weekend will air from 6am to noon. Additionally, “ABC News will broadcast special reports and update its programming throughout the weekend as news warrants,” a press release says…
