Scott Responds to Media Matters Over Story “Prompted By a News Release”

Today on Happening Now, anchor Jon Scott responded to a Media Matters report that FNC copied a press release from the Senate Republican Communications Center during yesterday’s broadcast. The segment included the same typo (an incorrect date) in a full-screen graphic as there was in the original Republican release.

“Our story [was] prompted by a news release from the Senate Republican Communication Center,” said Scott.

“In compiling the story, our producers and researchers did what we always do — we verified the accuracy of the material,” he said, but admitted making “the same mistake they did…That was our error, and we apologize.”
