Cal Perry Leaves CNN

Cal Perry, who has been at CNN since 2006, has announced that he is leaving the network. During his past five years at the network as an international correspondent, he has reported all over the world. Many of his reports centered around the Middle East, seeing as how he was based out of CNN’s Beirut bureau.

In 2006, Perry directed, filmed, produced, and created the CNN documentary “Combat Hospital.” He was also on the team that received the RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Award for CNN’s Middle Eastern coverage.

CNN Reporter’s Airport Chat With Joe Biden

CNN foreign correspondent Cal Perry blogs about his run-in with now-VP candidate Joe Biden at the business lounge of the Tiblisi, Georgia airport last week. It may help explain how CNN was first to report the news of the Biden pick, (though it was most probably John King’s reporting).

Just before his aide came overand said “Senator, it’s time to go back to the United States” I asked him the obvious question: Do you think you’ll be named as running mate for Barack Obama? His answer was brief, but it came with a smile on his face, “that question is the reason I’m not doing interviews while in Georgia.”

As I boarded my plane with Senator Biden I could not help think: Did I just meet the next Vice President of the United States?
