TCA: Olbermann Is Surprised No One Has Tried To “Snake My Turf”

ICN has links to a few recaps of Keith Olbermann‘s comments at TCA Press Tour. Hal Boedeker and Melanie McFarland‘s blog posts are particularly insightful.

He points out that Countdown has made money — “a good deal of money” — and expresses surprise that he has a virtual monopoly on liberal commentary on cable news.

“Television abhors a monopoly. If it really goes well for somebody, steal it. Immediately,” he says. “…I worked for a Fox operation designed to take ESPN apart by simply repeating it and making it a little louder and in brighter colors. And I have been surprised, to some degree, that nobody has gone in and tried to snake my turf just from that point of view.”
