Another month, another geography-related error. This time, the culprit was Touré of MSNBC’s “The Cycle.
Unlike his colleagues at “Martin Bashir” last month or “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams in July, his error was not part of a graphic that appeared on-screen, but in the script. It was exacerbated however by the fact that Touré began the segment by calling it a”geography refresher,” in reference to the mall shooting in Nairobi, Kenya.
“Here is your Monday Geography refresher, Kenya is located on the northern coast of Africa, right next door to Somalia,” he said
Kenya is adjacent to Somalia, but it is definitely not on the northern coast of Africa, it is on the eastern coast. (image to the left via World Atlas)
