The Revolving DoorHari Sreenivasan Leaves CBS for NewsHour
Sreenivasan joins the program as it gears up for a re-launch of sorts on December 7. Along with a name change — from The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer to the PBS NewsHour — the show will merge its broadcast and digital platforms. In that vein, Sreenivasan will anchor the broadcast program's nightly news summary while also reporting and anchoring for PBS NewsHour online. Sreenivasan joined CBS News in 2007. Galvin's promotion comes at a time when HLN is on track for its best year ratings-wise. In a note to staff, Ken Jautz, EVP of CNN Worldwide and head of HLN, said his network's recent growth "would not have been possible without Bill." While at HLN, Galvin launched or lead transitions for several programs and was one of the people to working on the campaign to rebrand the network from Headline News to HLN. Veteran TV producer Michele Remillard has been named Executive Producer of C-SPAN's live morning interview/call-in program "Washington Journal." A veteran of Fox News for 11 years, Remillard launched "Beltway Boys" and was a top producer at "Special Report with Bret Baier." Remillard also helped launch "Hardball with Chris Matthews" at CNBC, where she also produced "Equal Time" when Dee Dee Myers and Mary Matalin co-hosted. CNN Senior Producer Heads to BloombergTed Fine, a senior producer at CNN for "Anderson Cooper 360" and "Campbell Brown," is heading to Bloomberg TV. He has been brought on as Executive Producer for afternoons starting December 7th. He will join Mark White and Maia Samuel who manage mornings and evenings, respectively. Situation Room EP Jumps to GMATVNewser hears Eric Sherling, executive producer of CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" is leaving CNN and will join ABC's Good "Morning America". Sherling joined CNN in 2000, became executive producer of Wolf Blitzer Reports in 2002, then a supervising producer for "The Situation Room" when it launched in August 2005, before becoming EP in 2006. In a note sent by GMA Senior EP Jim Murphy and obtained by TVNewser, Murphy writes that during this "time of transition" for the show, Sherling brings "an excellent track record and reputation." No word on a start date. Sherling will report to Murphy and to EP Tom Cibrowski. New Morning Programming Senior EP at TWCFormer "GMA Weekend" producer, Ted Winner, is moving to The Weather Channel. Winner will be Senior Executive Producer for morning programming and a spokesperson told us, "Ted is an award-winning television producer with 20 years in broadcast journalism and extensive experience covering weather, including producing award-winning content in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Floyd. We are looking forward to him joining TWC." Before leaving in June, Winner was Senior broadcast producer with the weekend edition of ABC's "Good Morning America." Former Good Morning America features reporter Mike Barz is making his first public statements after being let go in July as a morning anchor for Chicago's Fox O&O, WFLD. In an interview with vocalo.org's Robert Feder, Barz says he has hired an attorney to get his job back. Feder reports an arbitration hearing is forthcoming. MSNBC Hires ESPN Vet for Top Marketing JobSharon Otterman is joining MSNBC as Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. Otterman, who joins MSNBC from ESPN, will be responsible for overseeing the network's on- and off-air marketing and branding. Greenburg, an Alabama native and mother of four, joined ABC News three years ago. Before ABC, Crawford Greenburg spent 20 years as a reporter for The Chicago Tribune, much of the time spent covering the Supreme Court. In 1998, she began providing legal analysis for PBS' "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer" where she remained until ABC brought her on in 2007. Insiders tell us CBS News Washington managing editor Bob Schieffer has been a mentor to Crawford Greenburg. For CBS News, she'll continue to cover the high court. But she'll first have to sit out a non-compete clause in her ABC contract. Terry Moran will be covering the court, as he has done in the past, in addition to his "Nightline" duties for ABC News.
