TERRELL BROWN IS NAMED CBS NEWS CORRESPONDENT
IN ITS NEWS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Terrell Brown has been named CBS News Correspondent in its News Development Program (designed to develop producers and correspondents from which CBS News, its affiliates and stations can draw talent), it was announced today by Sean McManus, President of CBS News and Sports. His appointment is effective immediately. Brown will contribute to CBS News broadcasts across the network. His initial assignments will be CBS EVENING NEWS Weekend Editions, THE EARLY SHOW, CBS Radio and Newspath.

"Terrell Brown is a promising young journalist already distinguishing himself as an aggressive reporter with a compelling on air presence," said McManus. "We're pleased Terrell is joining our superb team of CBS News correspondents and anticipate him helping CBS News continue its tradition of excellence into the next generation."

Prior to joining CBS News, while attending school, Brown was the full-time Anchor of The Breaking News Desk, a segment in WWBT-TV's weekday morning show. WWBT-TV is the NBC affiliate in Richmond, Virginia. Previously, Brown was the Substitute Anchor and Reporter for the show. In this capacity, he covered live, breaking, and overnight news. Brown’s reports on the crash of a private jet were part of the breaking news coverage that earned the station an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2009.

In addition to working on the station's weekday broadcast, Brown launched, produced and anchored a show called
12 News Today Saturday," Richmond's highest rated Saturday morning newscast.

Brown also served as Executive Producer and Reporter of Virginia Commonwealth University's Capital News Service, overseeing political broadcast content from the 2008 Virginia General Assembly.

Brown graduated with honors in 2009 from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was the recipient of a prestigious alumni award presented by the faculty. The National Press Club also awarded Brown with a full-term scholarship for broadcasting excellence in television.
