The former NBC “Today” anchor team of Tom Brokaw and Jane Pauley reunited on “Morning Joe” this morning. Brokaw — celebrating his 73rd birthday today — was on the show, as he occasionally is, and Pauley was there to promote a special she is producing and hosting for RLTV about Baby Boomers.

The pair had some advice for Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski about working the morning shift:

“If you told the 25-year old Jane that she would still–at 62– be anywhere near a camera [whispers]in high definition… we are still the cool kids,” Pauley said.

“We had maybe a third of the staff they now have on the “Today” show, and we didn’t have the backing of the network, which was a little chaotic at the time,” Brokaw said.
