President George W. Bush gave a nine-minute statement regarding the faltering economy this morning. All the broadcast networks and most of the cable news & business channels took it live (Headline News did not). The morning show anchors handled it on the networks, with Chris Cuomo anchoring on ABC, Maggie Rodriguez on CBS and Ann Curry on NBC. Shepard Smith anchored on FOX broadcast network (which was picked up by some MyNetworkTV stations including News Corp.-owned My9 in New York). Betty Nguyen anchored on CNN, with Christine Romans, Ali Velshi, and Gerri Willis providing analysis. FNC had Bill Hemmer, and Neil Cavuto post-statement for analysis.
