Va. Tech Shootings: CNN Airs Morning Memorial Service “Via Broadband”

Virginia Tech’s new media guidelines restrict satellite trucks to “the gravel parking area of the Holtzman Alumni Center at the Inn at Virginia Tech.”

This effectively halted any attempt at live coverage of the 9:45am memorial service on the Drillfield as classes resumed this morning. But CNN found a way around the rules: the cable net aired the event “via broadband,” using one of its mobile broadcasting units…
