WNBA President Steps Down to Launch Her Own Marketing Firm
Donna Orender wants out of women’s basketball.
The WNBA commissioner, who took over in April ’05, will depart at the end of the year, Sports Business Journal‘s John Lombardo reports.
“In a six-year time frame we made a lot of progress and based on that feeling, the time was right for me to go and do different things,” Orender said.
NBA Senior VP/Team Marketing & Business Operations Chris Granger will run the league on an interim basis while David Stern try to find someone to fill the position.
