What To Look For On New Year’s Eve: Fewer Commercials on Fox News, Brian Williams on NBC

With New Year’s Eve coming up once again, things look awfully familiar. CNN has the dynamic duo of Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper, ABC has Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark, NBC has Carson Daly.

But NYE 2012 will also mark a few welcome additions to the New Year’s Eve fray, making the choice of what to watch that much harder.

Fox News Channel’s “All American New Year” will have fewer commercials than normal, thanks to a sponsorship from Prudential. As Ad Age notes, all ads on the show will be for the insurance company, with fewer commercial breaks, and no local slots. Fewer ads for a sole sponsor is not a new concept, but it is the first time it has been used in recent memory on New Year’s Eve.

Meanwhile, NBC is bringing out its big guns for New Years to help Daly, who has to compete with the 800 lb gorilla that is “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”

“NBC Nightly News” and “Rock Center” anchor Brian Williams will be appearing on the program, not to talk news, but the year in music.
